任务

To commission the future officer leadership of the United States Army.

目的

Army ROTC is an educational program designed to provide the college student an opportunity to earn an army commission as a second lieutenant while completing the university requirements for a bachelor’s degree. The program provides leadership training that will develop the skills and attitudes vital to the professional army officer. 在 successful completion of the program and graduation from the university, ROTC cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants and enter either the active Army, Army Reserve, 或陆军国民警卫队组成部分.

学生 entering the basic 课程 register for classes at the same time and in the same manner as they enroll in their other college 课程s. 所有四类(MSL 1010, MSL 1020, MSL 2010, and MSL 2020) are available to any 奥斯汀佩伊州立大学 student as an elective 课程 没有任何军事义务. Completion of the basic 课程, graduation from Cadet Initial Entry 培训 (Basic Camp) or prior 密尔itary service qualifies students for entry into the advanced 课程, which is normally taken during the last two years 的大学.

高级课程是 designed to develop and mentor leaders of character who, upon degree completion, will accept a commission in the United States Army. 先进的 课程 requires that applicants have two academic years remaining at either the undergraduate or graduate levels, or a combination of both. 学生 normally enter the advanced 课程 during the last two years of their degree program (junior year for undergraduates, first year of master’s program for graduate-level students). 高级课程是 made up of five 密尔itary science and leadership classes (MSL 3010, MSL 3020, MSL 3030, MSL 4000, MSL 4010, and MSL 4020) and takes two years to complete. All classes, except Advanced Camp, are offered 在春季/秋季学期.  Advanced Camp is a paid five-week summer camp held 在肯塔基州的诺克斯堡.

Army ROTC develops students under the total person concept. 学员必须保持学业 standards while taking on the additional responsibilities of ROTC. 陆军后备军官训练队学员 are required to participate in organized physical fitness training. 学生 in the advanced 课程 are required to be full-time students, taking at least 12 hours 每学期.

Placement and Course Credit Substitution

Placement credit and/or 课程 substitution may be granted by the Professor of 军事 Science and 领导 on the basis of previous honorable active 密尔itary service, completion of Basic Camp or completion of Army Basic 培训 and Advanced Individual 培训. A student may request placement credit for a portion or the entire basic 课程. 军事 Science and 领导 课程s taken at other colleges or universities are transferable as approved by the Professor of 军事 Science and 领导.

Requirements for Enrollment and Continuance

The general requirements for enrollment and continuance in the Army ROTC program are 如下:

1. 基础课程学生必须:
   1. Be a citizen of the United States.
   2. 身体素质合格.
   3. Have freshman or sophomore standing. 学生 with higher standing require consent 的教练.
2. Basic 课程 Cadets applying for enrollment in the advanced 课程 who seek a commission 必须:
   1. 已成功完成 MSL 1010, MSL 1020, MSL 2010, and MSL 2020 or have accomplished one of the following: prior 密尔itary service; Basic Camp.
   2. Have two years remaining at the university (either undergraduate, graduate, or in pursuit of additional 课程work).
   3. Have completed a minimum of 55 hours.
   4. Be under 30 years old at time of graduation and commissioning (waiverable).
   5. Be enrolled as a full-time student at the 奥斯汀佩伊州立大学.
   6. Meet 密尔itary screening and physical requirements.
   7. 保持2分.0 G.P.A.
   8. Maintain B average in 军事 Science and 领导 课程s.

Regularly enrolled students who meet the academic prerequisites may take individual 课程s as electives with the permission of the Professor of 军事 Science and 学术顾问.

发展要求:

1. Minimum hours/GPA for entrance into basic 密尔itary studies practicum (2000年韩剧) is 30-59.9小时/ 2.0的绩点.
2. Minimum overall GPA for entrance into the advanced 课程 (MSL 3010, MSL 3020, MSL 4000, MSL 4010, and MSL 4020) is 2.0的绩点.
3. Minimum GPA in 军事 Science and 领导 课程s is 3.0.
4. Minimum overall GPA for commissioning is 2.0.
5. Semester counseling sessions with 密尔itary advisor required for advanced 课程 and 仅限奖学金学生.

Requirements for All 军事 Science and 领导 Commissionees

The following 密尔itary science and leadership advanced 课程 curriculum must be successfully 完成:

MSL 3010; MSL 3020; MSL 4000; MSL 4010; MSL 4020; and MSL 3490 or MSL 3030.

In addition to a bachelor’s degree, there are required and recommended 课程s in designated fields of study that students must complete prior to commissioning. 学生 meet these prerequisites by successful completion of required and elective 课程s taken from the university curriculum in the required areas of concentration.
